Photostory!

Hey everyone, I decided to do my photostory on Grocery Shopping and although a very simple topic, I had a lot of fun doing this and have a hard time narrowing down my photos to use.Just to let you know, I also found out that you are not supposed to take pictures of people at registers so I had to skip that step, so I took a picture of the receipt in place of it.  Let me know your thoughts. :)

Portraits!

This week when taking portrait photos, I probably took 25 of them at least. I had some problems taking them. When I went out to take them a few problems I had was that it was very windy so that it made hair blow in many different directions so it was hard to get a good picture. The other problem I had was shadows. I took many photos that had shadows from many other objects shadows in them even though it was still really sunny. The last problem I had was that it was so sunny sometimes that it would blind my subject I was taking pictures of and her eyes would appear shut even though they were partly open.I had to take some extra time to solve these problems. I would wait until the wind died down or I would have the person stand with the wind blowing against them. I also would take pictures with the sun behind the person or have the person count to three with their eyes closed and then at three take the picture when they opened their eyes. I also would have to position the person and take the picture so a shadow would not get in the way including my own shadow. I had a lot of fun taking different types of portrait pictures. I took some close up, some sitting, standing, in a tree, and some others as well. This was fun experimenting with portrait photos.

WEEK 10: Adding Text

I added text to both of these photos but it is subtle text not bold and out there! :)

WEEK 10: Clone Tool

This is my before shot of the capital building.

















This is my after shot. I used the clone tool to add another light post to help frame the picture although it is a little crooked.

Filters

 These are some of the photos I ended up with after playing with the filters in GIMP.
I used a pencil sketch design on the first photo, I put a swirl into the second photo,and used a color changing effect on the third photo. The last photo is an illusion. I had a lot of fun with these.

Dodge and Burn

Mosaic

This was my attempt at doing a mosaic which didn't turn out well. I think I used to many photos but I thought I would still post it because it was fun.

Photo Adjustments

 

For this photo, I changed the curve on this photo and it made it look darker almost like it is night. 

 

For this photo, I took out colors and simplified them. It left it only black and white. 

 

For this photo, I changed the background of the photo to a gradient of orange and yellow to look like a sunset in the snow picture. I thought it was very cool. 

Week 7

This week's assignment was very hard for me. I had a really hard time figuring out how to do the most simple things. It was very frustrating but I think my photos turned out pretty good. 

In this picture I just tried cropping the photo to go up close and focus on her pointing to the door. 

 

In this photo I blurred the background of the messy room and left the main focus to be my friend but added the touch of it being in an oval so it your focus of her sitting. 

In this photo I inverted the colors of the area around her but kept the part with her in it normal. I then also added a black border. I thought this picture was really fun.

 

Landscape Photos

           This week I had a lot of fun taking landscape photos. I had a hard time the first few days because it was really cloudy and snowing off and on. But this morning I woke up and had a blast because we got a big snow storm and everything looked gorgeous. Everything was covered in snow and was glistening in the early morning light. I got a lot of good shots right on my road and near my house. Unfortunately the snow melted faster than I wanted it to but it was still a lot of fun. I also had a lot of fun trying to find the perfect shot of Barre(where I am from)from the top of the hill. I have one picture that I really liked that I took but it was hard capturing the whole city looking down on it and capturing the real essence of what I was seeing. Although I had some difficulty, I had a blast trying to take as many good pictures as I could. These are a couple of my favorite photos that I took...I love the look of snow!

Assignment #2

The first thing that I did was find something to take a picture of on my campus. I chose this beautiful gazebo. I thought before I looked at the picture I would like the picture with the gazebo centered, I realized when I uploaded it I was wrong. I like the picture with the gazebo to the right side so that you get the entrance to the college building. It balances it out. I also like the picture with the gazebo to the side because the sky is brighter blue. This is because my picture wouldn't upload right so I had to retake it on a later time so it was a little darker. I think that some pictures look better with the object centered but some do not. This picture looks better with it off centered.
